Royal Plus Changes Lives
On July 9, 2010, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” traveled to Baltimore, Maryland, to meet the students of Boys Hope Girls Hope, an organization designed to bring joy to young men and women from at-risk families. Boys Hope Girls Hope was created with a vision to house young people in a supportive atmosphere and give them an opportunity to continue their education away from the destructive environments they’d lived in previously. For the “Extreme Makeover” team, along with hundreds of local volunteers, it was a great chance to give back to youngsters who made the difficult choice of leaving home to pursue their dream of getting a good education.
Boys Hope of Baltimore accepts seven talented young men from the inner city and gives them a safe home where, together, they learn to live, compete and excel academically and athletically. Having purchased land nearby in hopes of building a similar one for young inner city women, the young men of Boys Hope wanted to help build a home to provide the girls in their community to provide them with the same opportunities.
Royal Plus Disaster Kleenup of Snow Hill, MD, was a proud participant in this build, which appeared on the season’s 2 hour premiere on September 26, 2010. Royal Plus Disaster Kleenup assisted by providing drying and cleaning services, including dehumidification and round-the-clock monitoring and labor, to expedite the drying of the drywall, primer, and paint in the interior and exterior of the home. The project was completed the week of June 20, 2010 in East Setauket, New York.
The seven young ladies from Girls Hope went on vacation to Los Angeles and enjoyed a tour of Hollywood, while “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” team leader Ty Pennington, designers Michael Moloney, Paul DiMeo, Xzibit and Jillian Harris, local builder Excel Homes and the Maryland Community Builders’ Foundation, Royal Plus Disaster Kleenup and community volunteers built the home.
