NCRI Helps Family Move Towards Brighter Future

The Hall family of six was hit hard by tragedy on June 26, 2010, when a car accident left dad, Carl, paralyzed from the shoulders down.  Unfortunately, Carl’s condition made it impossible for him to continue on in their bi-level home, which contained door frames that were not wheelchair-accessible and dangerous stairs that made it impossible to move in and around the house. As a result, the family was forced to leave their home and move to a rented condo.

The Hall family represents a slice of Americana. Carl married his high school sweetheart, Stacey, and together they created the ultimate team. Megan (16), Maddie (14), Logan (11) and McLaine (9) all followed in dad’s footsteps by participating in team sports and enjoying mom’s perfect cheer from the sidelines.

Despite the recent car accident, Carl has not lost his fighting spirit. Instead of asking, “Why me?” he meets each challenge head on, and asks, “What’s next?”. The community has supported the Halls with numerous fundraisers; however, Carl’s condition is costly and continues to put unimaginable financial pressure on the family.

The “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” designers decided to give Carl back some independence and a new home to rehab in so that his family can move past this tragedy, onto a brighter, healthier future.

On February 18, 2011, the Hall family was sent on a vacation to Disney World while "EM:HE" design team leader Ty Pennington, Paul DiMeo, Paige Hemmis, and Jillian Harris, local builder Cook Homes, NCRI and the community built them a new house.  NCRI assisted by providing drying and cleaning services, including dehumidification and round-the-clock monitoring and labor, to expedite the drying of the drywall, primer, and paint in the interior and exterior of the home.

NCRI has been providing insurance restoration services in the Kansas marketplace since 1972 and has been a Member of DKI since 1996. DKI is the exclusive dry down and cleaning vendor for Season 8 of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.  Founded in 1974, DKI assists insurance carriers, commercial and residential clients with restoring properties damaged by fire, water, wind and mold.

The Emmy award winning reality program Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, is now entering its 8th season.  The show airs Sundays from 8:00-9:00 p.m., ET on ABC.
