Today’s Restoration DKI Lends A Helping Hand

Disaster Kleenup International, Inc., North America's largest disaster restoration contracting organization, today announced that DKI Member Company, Today’s Restoration DKI of Albuquerque, NM is a proud participant in the popular ABC Series, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, surprising the Brown Family in Wellman, Texas, with a home of their dreams. 

Seventeen-year-old Alex Brown epitomized the traditional All-American girl: beautiful, smart, vivacious and beloved by everyone who knew her. Tragically, her dreams of a career in broadcast journalism and a life filled with so much promise were cut short. In November 2009, she was killed in a single car accident. Those left behind include Alex’s brave parents and her amazing younger sister. To ensure that no other family suffers such a heartbreaking loss, they turned their tragedy into opportunity. Today, they travel around Texas hauling Alex’s wrecked truck on their flat-bed trailer to local high schools, reminding young people of the dangers of distracted driving. Their goal is simple: they want to save lives.

The Extreme Makeover: Home Edition design team leader Ty Pennington, and designers Paige Hemmis, Michael Moloney and Leigh Anne Tuohy, along with local builder Palm Harbor Homes and Today’s Restoration DKI decided the Brown’s needed a real home on a stable foundation.

Today’s Restoration DKI assisted by providing drying and cleaning services, including dehumidification and round-the-clock monitoring and lab or, to expedite the drying of the drywall, primer, and paint in the interior and exterior of the home. DKI is the exclusive dry down and cleaning vendor for Season 8 of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.  Founded in 1974, DKI assists insurance carriers, commercial and residential clients with restoring properties damaged by fire, water, wind and mold.  The project was completed the week of November 16, 2010 in Wellman, Texas. 

The Emmy award winning reality programExtreme Makeover: Home Edition, is now entering its 8th season.  The show airs Sundays from 8:00-9:00 p.m., ET on ABC.
