Burma Cyclone Relief

On May 2 and 3, a tropical cyclone tore through the Irrawaddy delta and the commercial capital of Rangoon, Burma (also known as Myanmar). More than 22,000 people are reported dead, and hundreds of thousands more have been left homeless. As of Sunday, five regions had been declared disaster zones.

The Forum for Democracy in Burma and other dissident groups outside of Myanmar called on the international community to provide urgent humanitarian assistance and urged the military junta to allow aid groups to operate freely.
